Jamee Steen, MD, is a primary care family medicine doctor and Department Chair of Family and Preventive Medicine for Prisma Health in the Midlands. She has been practicing in the Columbia area of South Carolina since 1991.
Dr. Steen received her medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington and completed her family medicine residency at Palmetto Health Richland, where she served as chief resident. After practicing at Northeast Family Practice as a private practice physician, she was recruited to teach at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Department of Family and Preventive Medicine, where she stayed for the next 13 years. As a clinician and teacher, she received more than 20 teaching awards and was recognized statewide with the Halford Award for Leadership in Humane Education. During her time at UofSC, she held numerous leadership and administrative positions.
With a desire to return to direct patient care, Steen then joined Senior Primary Care. In March 2015, she opened Prisma Health Family Medicine in Ballentine, South Carolina, which is co-located with Ballentine Family YMCA. She also serves as chair for the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine for Prisma Health in the Midlands.
Steen's clinical interests include taking care of patients of all ages. Her particular interests are chronic disease management, women's health, pediatrics and health and wellness.
