John Vann, MD, specializes in sports medicine with a focus on shoulder and knee problems and injuries, arthroscopic surgery, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, rotator cuff surgery and other associated sports injuries.
After graduating from the University of South Carolina and Eastern Virginia Medical School, he completed his orthopedic residency at Greenville Health System and his sports medicine fellowship at Hershey Medical Center of Penn State University. He practiced briefly in Virginia where he grew up, but after missing the Upstate he decided to move back to Greenville, South Carolina.
Dr. Vann has been a team physician for Furman University for the past 25 years. He has also worked with the Carolina Elite Soccer Academy, Greenville Swamp Rabbits, Greenville Triumph SC, Greenville Braves and Atlanta Falcons, as well as local high school teams. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, Southern Orthopedic Association and SC Orthopedic Association.

Sorry to see Dr. Vann retire
Dr Vann is amazing! You don't find doctors like him anymore - super caring, concerned, and great at what he does. He's operated on our entire family and will be missed upon retirement!!
